AI Demo: ChatGPT agent

ChatGPT agent is now live, and it’s another sign of a big shift coming for AI user experiences. We are quickly moving from AI-augmented responses to AI-driven actions.

ChatGPT's 'agent' brings together OpenAI’s earlier tools like Deep Research and Operator into a single system that can reason and act on your behalf. It works like a virtual assistant with its own computer, keyboard, and mouse. It can navigate websites, log into accounts (you must take control to help it enter passwords, etc.), run code, analyze legislation, generate decks or spreadsheets, book meetings, and more.

Below, I put together a short walkthrough on how it works and why it matters in the video below.

This is the beginning of a new interface layer that blends reasoning, automation, and delegation. OpenAI is also not alone in this advancement, as numerous companies are moving into building advanced agentic capabilities that can transform the way we work (and how citizens interface with us) in the public sector.
